Ethiopia | Gerba Dogo | Kurume | Natural

Region: Bule Hora, Guji, Oromia

Elevation: 2100-2200 masl

About: Guji Gerba Dogo coffee is crafted by small family farms in Dogo, Western Guji, at altitudes of 2,100 to 2,200 meters. This region’s unique microclimate—warm days, cool nights, fertile soil, and ideal rainfall—produces exceptionally sweet, dense coffee cherries.

Oboleyan Coffee Export, founded by the Edema family, operates the Dogo washing station, just 3 km from Gerba town. Here, cherries from around 500 local farms undergo meticulous natural and fully washed processing. Farmers hand-deliver ripe cherries, which are sun-dried on elevated African beds and shaded during peak sun to ensure consistent drying over 12-15 days. Once dried to an ideal moisture content of 11.5%, the beans are transported to Addis Ababa for milling and export.

Every step, from cherry to export, reflects the Edema family’s generations-long dedication to producing the finest Guji coffee.

Most producers in Ethiopia are smallholders and cultivate coffee using traditional methods. As a result, most coffee is grown without chemical fertiliser or pesticides.
